who am I?
I consider myself a storyteller, marketer, and designer. With a major in Journalism, a minor in Psychology, and a certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications, I am passionate about storytelling in different forms to share stories that are uniquely human, whether it is written, video, or digital on social platforms. I am also dedicated to empowering women in the sports industry and highlighting women's sports: I served as the chapter president of Northwestern's Association for Women in Sports Media, where I organize networking and speaker events for female students at Northwestern as well as collaborating with other student organizations to amplify the presence of women in the sports community at Northwestern. During my tenure, I doubled the executive board size and established two new positions for the upcoming school year.
I interned in Northwestern Athletics' Marketing Department my sophomore year, where I gained experience with gameday operations, brainstorming marketing campaigns, social media strategy, and email marketing. From there, I knew that sports was where I wanted to be. The following summer I interned at Blue Wire Podcasts, a sports media company dedicated to the next generation of sports content and fans. As a Marketing Intern there, I learned and worked in the realms of project management, social and editorial content, copywriting, advertising, promotions, and marketing pitch decks and strategy.
At Northwestern, I served as a staff reporter for our online, student-run sports publication InsideNU. I was the beat reporter for the 8x National Champion Women's Lacrosse team, where I traveled to provide coverage on the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Final Fours, where they ultimately won the championship in 2023.
But I didn’t stop there - I learned that I also loved to explore more about Northwestern’s athletes beyond the games and jerseys. I helped co-found UNCUT Northwestern, a student-athlete storytelling platform that originated at UNC-Chapel Hill and has since expanded to numerous universities. As the Head of Operations, I oversaw all storytelling initiatives with Northwestern student-athletes in written forms and on social media and a staff of 10+ members. Without a doubt, this was the most enriching experience I had in college. Getting to help student-athletes share their stories, build their brands, and get to know them in new ways strengthened my love for sports and storytelling. We have totaled 35k plus engagements across our social platforms and have told the stories of athletes across sports at Northwestern, including WNBA player Veronica Burton, All-American volleyball player Temi Thomas-Ailara and more.
As well, from January to April of 2022, I interned with the Warner Media and Turner Sports team on creating content for the the March Madness Live App and NCAA.com for the 2022 tournament. There, I contributed live blog coverage during the busiest rounds of the tournament, engaged fans with polls and quizzes, and also wrote articles for the digital site. You can view examples of my work there here:
Over the course of my senior year, I've had the incredible opportunities to work for the iconic basketball brand SLAM on the Brand Partnerships team and in the Media Relations and Digital Content department at the Chicago Blackhawks. Next up, I'll be joining the NBA as a Branded Content Strategist in New York City.
I find that I am the most excited and passionate about opportunities that lie at the intersection of sports, culture, and storytelling. I love helping athletes find their voices and tell their own stories beyond the playing field, allowing sports fans to understand that athletes are much more than just their sport.
In my free time, I enjoy yoga, reading, and listening to podcasts.
